The next step
Getting Started
As you'd expect, you will have to undergo a thorough assessment. You will, with your assessor, have the opportunity to consider your strengths and talents, and the changes that this career path will bring to your life.
The assessment will include proof of identity and status checks, requiring birth certificates, passports, and driving licences, reference to health departments, probation, NSPCC and so on. Also, a Criminal Record Bureau check will be carried out for anyone living in your household aged 16 years and above.
There will be a health and safety check on your home and a comprehensive medical with your own GP. We will need a complete employment history and three interviews with personal referees.
There will also be a detailed personal assessment, which is called a Form F. This is the nationally used tool to analyse you and your family's background, relationships, lifestyle and values, and your ability to make a positive contribution to the life of a child. The Panel will then make a recommendation to the decision maker about approval to The Fostering Partnership.
